August 31, 2026 –RockeTruck, Inc., doing business as Bandgap Technologies, announced today that its Mobile Fuel Cell Generator now qualifies for Mobile Power Unit (MPU) rebates under the Clean Off-Road Equipment Voucher Incentive Project (CORE) managed by the California Air Resources Board (CARB). Under new project guidelines announced in July 2026, “Eligibility [for CORE vouchers] has been expanded to include MPUs to power or charge on road vehicles, offroad equipment, event power applications, and emergency response activities.”

The RockeTruck/Bandgap MFCG-120H, which has a peak power output level of 120 kilowatts, qualifies for a voucher worth $295,000. Based on the current $394,000 retail price, the net purchase price of the MFCG-120H is just $99,000. Zero up-front cost lease options are also available. “This is a one-time opportunity for customers to buy portable, zero-emission generators using advanced fuel cell technology for about the same net cost as a conventional fossil fuel generator,” according to RockeTruck/Bandgap CEO Mike Simon, who has been at the forefront of developing fuel cell power systems since 2000.

To be eligible for this huge discount, buyers must submit Purchase Orders prior to the opening of each annual voucher award cycle. The next such cycle will open around October 1, 2026, customers interested in acquiring the MFCG-120H within the next year are encouraged to contact RockeTruck/Bandgap before this date (see contact info below). Equipment purchased with CORE vouchers must be operated in California, and other restrictions apply. Information on the CORE program is available at https://californiacore.org/.

The MFCG-120H was developed with financial support from the California Energy Commission, U.S. Department of Energy, South Coast Air Quality Management District, and Southern California Gas Company. Prototype units have been successfully operated next to mountain snowdrifts in the winter and in summer desert heat conditions. These generators can deliver reliable backup power for data centers and electric vehicle charging facilities, serve as a portable source of high-quality power for lighting and other equipment used in outdoor TV and movie studios, provide long-duration power during grid power outages, and much more.

Through its alliances with California hydrogen producers, RockeTruck/Bandgap can provide fuel for the MFCG-120H under separate arrangements, and lease options include an Energy-as-a-Service model where the customer only pays for the electricity produced.
